Heritage Dance Collective
The African Heritage Cultural Arts Center’s Winds of Heritage Dance Company presents the Annual Heritage Dance Collective, a celebration of diversity and inclusion in dance. This signature event showcases timeless choreographic masterpieces that honor the contributions, dedication, and accomplishments of South Florida’s most-noted choreographers, dancers, and emerging artists.
Audiences experience a dynamic range of performances, including acclaimed works such as He Ain’t Heavy by Steve Cruz, Endangered Species by Lineen McDonald, and Caribbean Vibe by Marguerita Gayle-Major. Under the direction of the Center’s dance director, Eulyce Williams Eason, a diverse cast of performers comes together on one stage to highlight dance as a unifying and transformative art form.
The concert features performances by talented artists and companies such as Emily Ricca and Alexey Minkins in a ballet excerpt from The Nutcracker, the Delou Africa Dance Ensemble honoring West African traditions, and Miami’s own IFE-ILE celebrating Afro-Cuban culture. The Winds of Heritage Dance Company also takes center stage with its signature performance.
Notable alumni of the Center who have gone on to successful professional dance careers include Marshall Davis, Jr., Tyrell Rolle, Gentry George, Anasthasia Grand-Pierre, Ja’Naye Thurston, and Ashlee Thomas—continuing the legacy of excellence the Center nurtures year after year.
