The African Heritage Cultural Arts Center (AHCAC), presents the “Art Blues & BBQ Festival” on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The inaugural event celebrates the arts, sounds and flavors of black Miami during Art Basel week and will be held on the grounds of the AHCAC, 6161 NW 22nd Avenue, Miami, at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Moonlight Way. Admission is free, however RSVPs are encouraged.
The Art Blues & BBQ Festival features the authentic sounds of the Chicago Blues All-Stars, Ike & Val Woods, and the Valerie Tyson Band performing live on an outdoor stage. The Center’s Amadlozi Gallery will exhibit artwork by Addonis Parker, an accomplished, muralist and portrait painter, who uses “art to address social issues and inspire a sense of pride in the minds and hearts of all towards Black people.” He has been a long standing contributor, teacher and friend to the AHCAC youth community.
The Festival’s BBQ Challenge takes place Saturday, December 2nd and features bragging “Grill Masters,” representing a variety of community organizations and entities competing in four mouthwatering categories: Best BBQ, Best Hamburgers, Best Mac and Cheese, and Best Baked Beans. VIP/Celebrity Judges will select the winners and all contestants will have the opportunity to sell food items and donate 20% of the proceeds to a charity of their choice.
