The Performing and Visual Arts Academies

The African Heritage Cultural Arts Center has a long-standing reputation for providing exceptional programming to the community.

Our arts academies offer classes in the classical, contemporary and ethnic art forms to promote diversity and provide skills that challenge technical and creative ability.

Our arts academies include:

After School Arts Academy

Spring Arts Workshop

Summer Arts Conservatory

Kuumba Winter Arts Workshop

Ages 5-10

Students between the ages of five through ten engage in a prescriptive schedule that will enable them to appreciate and develop skills in all the arts disciplines.

These prescribed classes will lay a solid foundation in the various are disciplines that will enable our students to discover and develop his or her latent talent.

Ages 11-16

Students in this age range are permitted to select their classes based on their interests and abilities. The classes are all progressive in learning.

All classes are broken down by levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced).

 

All of our academies are tuition-based programs. Financial assistance may be available.

AFTER SCHOOL ARTS ACADEMY

The After School Arts Academy is designed to provide an artistic learning experience during after school hours, with intake beginning at 2:00p.m. The program is broken down into five, 8-week sessions to monitor your child’s development and engagement in the arts. The program schedule is aligned with Miami-Dade Public School’s calendar.

SPRING ARTS WORKSHOP

The Spring Arts Workshop is designed to provide a fun creative experience during Miami-Dade Public School Spring Break.
Students in this academy participate in 6 classes daily with the program concluding with a showcase for parents.

SUMMER ARTS CONSERVATORY

The Summer Arts Conservatory is the premier arts training program for children ages 5-16. This academy give students enhanced access to south Florida’s leading artists in theater, vocal music, instrumental music, dance, visual arts, fashion design, technical arts, and literary arts. Students will benefit from access to the Center’s expertise in performance, etiquette, and production.
This 9-week program is designed to provide a structural creative experience during Miami-Dade Public School summer break.
Students in this academy participate in 6 classes daily with the program concluding with a five major productions for the community.
Intake begins at 7:30 a.m. and late pick up is 6:00 p.m.

KUUMBA WINTER ARTS CAMP

The Kuumba Winter Arts Workshop is designed to provide a fun creative experience during Miami-Dade Public School Winter Break.
Students in this academy participate in 6 classes daily with the program concluding with a showcase for parents.

Intake begins at 7:30 a.m. and late pick up is 6:00 p.m.
